Description
A family residence since 1753, Villa Theresiana was originally XVII century a convent transformed in the XVIII century into a residential country house and enlarged in the XIX century to its present 950 square meters.The Villa and its garden are classified by the Italian Department of Fine Arts, and are located at the center of the historical town of Lauro, in a dominant position under the ancient castle belonging to the princes Lancellotti.
The atmosphere of the past is still there and is immediately perceived by the guests living among the original furnishings, carefully restored, of the Villa, while at the same time enjoying all the comforts of modern life.
Villa Theresiana is available for rental from April 1st to the frist week of november and provides accomodation for up to 10 guests.
The garden
The garden extends over 2400 square meters. While not large, it is botanically interesting, with its yucca, washingtonia and Tibetan palm-trees, a 150-year old araucaria imbricata, orange and lemon trees, and of course laurels, taking their name after Lauro. The flowers range from roses to blue scyllas, plumbago, wisteria, camellias, hortensias and japanese jasmin.
Old trees provide shaded corners, where the cool air can be enjoyed while sitting on benches and garden chairs.
The rooms
Ground floor: the marble entrance hall has one large drawing room on each side, followed by a small private chapel, a large fully-equipped old country-style kitchen, a laundry with washing machine and tumble dryer, and two powder-rooms.
First floor
Two living rooms, a music room with a concert grand piano, a formal dining room, a library and five double bedrooms each one with bathrooms (two with bathtub and three with shower). Three rooms have a queen-size bed while the two others have twin beds.
On the first floor there are also a modern fully-equipped kitchen, and a 90-sq. meter panoramic terrace where guests can admire the view over the Caserta plain, especially beautiful at sunset, while having drinks or dinner “al fresco”.
The floors in the reception area are of ancient maiolica tile and traditional Neapolitan “cotto”. There are Venetian glass lamps, beautiful marble fireplaces,original paintings and furnishing.
The Villa, if not rented, is the summer residence of the owners, where they meet friends and relatives.
Swimming pool
The swimming pool (6.50 x 2.30 m. depth 150-160 cm., opening dates: beginning of May – end of October) is located behind the villa in a sun-resting area where sunbeds are available and has the shape of a fountain. There is also a changing room and an outdoor shower. The arcades next to the pool form separate resting areas, with tables and chairs.
