Description
The island of Pantelleria is located in the centre of the Mediterranean Sea between Sicily and Africa, it is vulcanic and surrounded by wild nature. The dammuso, (rural house) is the architectural symbol of Pantelleria was created in the 10th century A.D. but it was designed by engineers, architects and ecologists.
The exceptionally wide walls are necessary to support the domes forming a hard and waterproof surface. The particular shape of the rounded roofs have been conceived above all for the collection and canalization of rain water into the cisterns which are situated in close proximity to the dammuso. The thick walls of these houses isolate them, keeping the rooms cool in the summer and warm in the winter. As the two damusso houses are built out of the natural stone found on the island, they blend in very well in the surrounding landscape

The house is located in the ancestral island of Pantelleria. The most beautiful slopes of Cala Tramontana, Arco dell’Elefante may be reached in 15 minutes by car and in 30 minutes it is possible to reach Dietro Isola or the village of Porto di Scauri.
The Dammuso is an ancient building of about 100 years old, the special architecture of this building is typical of the island and it has been the same for hundreds of years, his historic value is recognized by the Italian State.
The Dammuso is sorrounded by a charming valley and covers around 200 sqm and has a garden of 600 sqm. It is equipped with terraces, 2 kitchens, a big living/dining space, 3 bathrooms, 4 rooms and some utility rooms.
The building, just restructured, is ready to be furnished with personal taste.
It is equipped, like all Dammusi, of own water tank (in the rural zone the water is trucked by camion).
